I have put words in your mouth, and hidden you in the shadow of my hand, stretching out the heavens and laying the foundations of the earth, and saying to Zion, "You are my people."
The Diocese of Renk is one of 31 dioceses in the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan whose mission is to spread the Gospel.
Located in Upper Nile State, Renk sits on the border between South Sudan and Sudan, serving as a bridge between two nations. Renk covers 32,000 square kilometers and has an estimated population of 120,000.
With more than 20,000 members in 12 congregations, the Diocese of Renk is growing. The diocese includes Renk Town, Maban and Melut Provinces.
Under the leadership of the Rt. Rev. Joseph Garang Atem, the Diocese of Renk serves God and God's people through worship, education, health care, humanitarian relief, and economic development.
The Diocese of Renk has companion relationships with the Diocese of Chicago and the Diocese of Virginia in the United States. Several churches in these dioceses have partnered with parishes and ministries in Renk.
Through these partnerships, schools, clinics, and a cathedral have been built. Small businesses have been started and agricultural seeds have been planted. Visits and prayers have been shared. And a deep well of faith has been tapped.
We are God’s people. We are Brothers and Sisters, in Christ.
